Welcome! The Humane Society of the Lakes (HSL) is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals through education, public awareness and prompt response to needs arising from specific complaints. It is the mission of the Humane Society to provide services for abandoned, stray or unwanted animals while they await lifelong homes. All animals are cared for with dignity and respect. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please check the Adoptable Animals section of this website. If you find an animal that you like, please fill out the Adoption Application. Adoption fees for Dogs are $125.00 and Cats are $95.00. As always, additional contributions are greatly appreciated  Only 2000 tickets will be sold. Tickets are available from HSL board members as well as at the HSL shelter. See our Calendar of Events for more details! "Paw for the Course" Golf Tournament September 17, 2010 Detroit Country Club Four player Team Scramble format-$50 fee per player includes greens fee, cart and prizes. Hole sponsorships also available. Golf registration forms and hole sponsorship forms can be found to the left of this page. Please register by Monday, September 6th. Registration forms can be dropped off at the shelter or mailed to HSL at the address listed above. Limit of 30 teams so register now! (see calendar of events for additional details)  Become a Humane Society of the Lakes Volunteer ~Call or stop in to the shelter to inquire about the many volunteer opportunities available~ We hold Volunteer Orientation the last Thursday of each month from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the shelter. If interested in volunteering at the Humane Society, please complete a volunteer application (link on the left of home page) or call Casandra at 218-847-0511. Help Support HSL! Adopt a Kennel and/or become a member of the Humane Society---Kennel Sponsorship forms and 2010 Membership Applications available for download. Just check the menu on the left side of the screen. Foster Home Volunteers Needed! Foster Home Applications-Are you interested in offering a safe haven for one of the animals at our shelter while they await their forever home? If so, please complete and return a foster home application to HSL. If you are missing a pet, please check our website to see if your pet has been turned into us. Call us at 218-847-0511 to see if it has arrived more recently. Also, please check our Lost and Found link, if you don't see your pet, please add them, so we know they are missing. If you have a found a pet, please go to our Lost and Found link and add them, so they can find their way home. |
